The place where you are going to help is located in Newtonmore, a village with a lot of scotish history, situates between wonderful mountains which you can hike in your free time. The place is amazing, and perfect to disconnect of your routine and start … read more this new adventure, you can hike wherever you want, you can go cycling Roy has bikes for you you can kayaking in a closer village, or you can just chill in the house.
Roy is the perfect host, to teach you and to help you which wherever you want to learn. He is very clever and as he has a lot of things to do he tries to give you some task and he gives you freedom to manage your time. It was my first workaway and I had never worked in a farm before, so at first I was a bit lost, but Roy helped me a lot, with just the willing and persistent to do the things correctly if you are a good learner you can learn wherever Roy can teach you, and it's a lot. My tasks during this three weeks was very different: from the airbnb tasks as ironing, use the wash machine to clean the clothes, change and do the beds, clean the airbnb and studio, etc.
But farm work too, as chaining the field, removing the shit of the cattles, feed the cattles, recollect and keep wood for the house, recollect big rocks and put the big pilars to make a fence, hunter eggs, repair the byciclies, repair and electrify a fence, and for sure, and this is not a task, walk with Noggan, the Roy's dog, who is always very happy to meet new people, and he is always waiting that somebody throw him the ball as far as possible. For sure you can learn or improve your english too, as Roy speaks very clear and good english, and he has the qualification to do it.
Nothing to compare with the scotish accent haha. As I said I have learned a lot during this 3 weeks and I would had love to stay a bit longer, you can talk about everything with Roy, and he listen you and tries to help you. It was a pleasure to share a few days with his son and friends too, a couple from England and a another couple from France. And for Sure to stay with Nikita, Valentina, and Mahaut. We share nice days together and I learned a lot from them.
My advise, don't look for another one, this would be your best work away, just write him and cross your fingers! This needs a rare combination of good will, imagination, and organisation.. Mojca possesses these in such a rare blend that I would almost fail to notice, for instance, that the porridge was waiting -perfectly cooked - when I came in from the cows, or all the beds were ready made up just after the guests departure, or a mountain of laundry turned to flawlessly folded bed sets.! Always thoughtful, warm-hearted and hard-working, Mojca was like a good fairy in the house, creating magical transformation. Really hard to surpass!!

It seems to me almost unrealistic and there were moments that I felt like living in a fairy tail.. Roy is extremely patience and knowledgeable, always prepared to teach you.. His knowledge and skills are wider than you can imagine.. He helps also with the hiking ideas, transport and others requests as much as he can So, step out of your comfort zone and enjoy the simplicity of country life on the farm! In fact, remarkably reliable and conscientious, Antoine is very energetic, but patient and supportive of others, and constantly enthusiastic and cheerful.
He was not just a great support to me, but he contributed a sense of joie de vivre and esprit de corps darn it..
